Pathophysiology 1 (Intussusception)
Operative findings in a 5-year-old boy with an intestinal wall invaginated at a circumscribed site. View of the intestinal segment in which a crater-like structure alteration with a thick edge is recognizable on the anti-mesenteric side.
It is a Meckel's diverticulum with a broad base, which is invaginated into the intestinal lumen. It has led to an intussusception; the starting point was a little more proximal to the diverticulum and involved it. Meckel's diverticulum is one of the most frequent causes of a symptomatic invagination.
