Cleft Lip Palate vs. Facial Cleft

Left picture: The diagnosis here is a bilateral asymmetric cleft lip palate. Right picture: In this case it is an infrequent bilateral oblique facial cleft.

Both neonates have a bilateral cleft lip. Left picture: In this pathology the clefts proceed to the nasal cavity and are asymmetric. Right picture: In this pathology there is a symmetric cleft on both sides, running beside the nasal wings in the direction of the medial eye angle (which is not visible on the left side). The lid fissure axis proceeds in medial direction to the bottom; the visible part of both eyes is pathological: among other things, the position and size of the bulbi.
