Subileus/Abdominal Mass (Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma)
Operative findings in a 4.3-year-old boy with chronic subileus and abdominal tumor.
Following laparotomy a dilated loop of intestine is visible at the upper border of the picture, and below a large mass held with the index finger and the thumb of the surgeon.
It is a loop of small intestine with a large mass lying in between on the mesentery.
This mass has led to a dilatation of the part of intestine at the upper border of the picture. On the other hand, the aboral intestinal segment is narrow and bent in an acute angle due to an adhesion to the mesenteric mass.
The cause of the chronic subileus and abdominal tumor is non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
