Incidence (Intussusception)

Abdominal emergencies at the department of pediatric surgery which have been observed consecutively in 1992. Abdominal emergencies make up 12 % of all pediatric surgical emergency cases including the accidents (502 of 4242 patients). In the operative causes with urgent indication the intussusception are at third place after the appendicitis and incarcerated inguinal hernia (31 of the 205 patients with a single diagnosis = 15 %).
