Swollen Epididymis (Epididymitis)

3-month-old infant with a swelling and redness of the right scrotum which was observed by the parents during changing of the diaper. Emergency revision by an inguinal incision and luxation of the testis: Instead of the expected torsion of the right testis a conspicuous epididymis was found. The epididymis is tight, swollen and reddish; it is as large as the testis. The diagnosis is acute epididymitis of the right side. As additional finding a reactively swollen testicular appendage between head of the epididymis and upper pole of the testis can be seen.
