Ileus of the Newborn (Video)

This video shows as example of 'surgical abdomen' in the neonate the corresponding clinical signs of an acute abdominal emergency. The cause of 'surgical abdomen' is quite often a congenital intestinal obstruction as in this case. Peritonitis e.g. due to perforated appendicitis as cause 'of surgical abdomen' is much less frequently observed.
