Stage of Disease 2 (Appendicitis)
Operative findings in a 13.3-year-old boy. Following incision of the
peritoneum and withdrawing of the cecum some viscuous and malodorous pus emerges from the abdomen. The finger points to the base of the appendix.
According to these initial findings the diagnosis is a perforated appendicitis which led to a diffuse or localized peritonitis or a perityphlitic abscess. $$abdo_01??££ Compare flocculent, malodorous exsudate with the fibrinous and purulent coates.§§
