Small Form (Omphalocele)
2-day-old boy with a small mass connected to the umbilical cord. This mass is probably caused by a protruding intestinal loop.
Here, there is a small omphalocele. One can imagine that contrary to the cases demonstrated so far a primary reduction into the abdominal cavity and closure of the abdominal wall in layers may be easy to accomplish. However, the base is very narrow, which means that there has been the constant danger of intestinal incarceration.
