Dandy Walker Cyst (Video)
This video is divided into three parts: The first part shows the patient who was operated on earlier. Notice the dolichocephaly with the skull expanding in a far occipital direction.
The second part shows the patient sitting in bed and playing with his mother. He
has not only normal intelligence, but is talented, too.
In the third part one sees the original x-rays with the Dandy Walker cyst and the supratentorial hydrocephalus. The latter was normalized following a ventriculoperitoneal shunt; but the cyst retained its size due to an aqueductal insufficiency, and led to an increased size of the posterior fossa. Therefore, the cyst was drained by an additional side-arm to the already existing shunt.
