Prenatal diagnosis. 46 fetuses with CNS malformations who have been admitted to a Swiss center for further evaluation following an alpha-fetoprotein and/or ultrasound screening many years ago: The most frequent diagnoses were myelomeningocele (Cele) and hydrocephalus (H), followed by anencephaly (A), and miscellaneous anomalies (Misc). At that time, only 19 (40 %) survived the neonatal period.
