Types 1 (Renal Trauma)
Child with unilateral upper abdominal and flank pain and a short period of hematuria.
The ultrasound shows a divided renal pelvis and a notch on the ventral surface with small subcapsular fluid collection.
The diagnosis is at most a grade 1 (I) renal trauma. In addition, a ureteral duplication (duplex kidney) is present; in congenital renal malformations or tumors hematuria may occur already following a minor trauma, which is not the case in a traumatized normal kidney.
