pH-metry 2 (Reflux)

pH-metry in a child with gastroesophageal reflux. On the left side: pH decrease with two peaks, and on the right side: pH-decrease with one peak. A pH of 6 is reached only after 20 and 60 minutes. In this part of the curve mainly the clearance times are abnormal. Pathological are more than 3 episodes of reflux which last more than 5 minutes (and more than 100 episodes of reflux) in a long term registration during 24 hours (Working Group of the ESPGAN. J Ped Gastroenterol Nutr 1992; 14:467-471). pH-metry concerns only the acid reflux, not other types of reflux.
