Fibroadenoma vs. Acquired Breast Asymmetry

Left picture: In fact, a tumor of the right breast is present, turning out to be a fibroadenoma on surgery, and confirmed histologically. Right picture: Here, the diagnosis is the state after the excision of a large hemangioma of the chest wall with a secondary underdevelopment of the left breast due to the hemangioma and the surgery.

Both teenagers exhibit fully developed breasts. On looking closely, an asymmetry of the breasts is recognizable; the left breast is smaller, and the alignment of the nipples is different. Left picture: A more pronounced roundness of the lower quadrants of the right breast is visible on inspection; also a mass is palpable there. Right picture at the top: The left breast lies higher in this pathology, and a scar is visible on the lateral chest wall with a keloid and with hemangioma-like inclusions in the picture at the bottom. In the first place, a physiological asymmetrical development of the breasts is considered in the differential diagnosis.
